Dissens e.V. is a non-profit NGO which was founded in 1989 and offers advisory, education and research services.

The aim of the organisation is to foster gender democracy, reduce gender hierarchies and to help prevent men from committing violent acts. The association is increasingly concentrating on European pilot projects within the framework of its areas of work and on integration into European networks.

In the research department Dissens carries out research in the field of 'equality', 'gender democracy', 'the future of work' and 'violence, conflict and human rights'. Research results are disseminated and put into practice in gender training, further education, seminars, lectures and publications. The knowledge gained from this research also has an influence on advisory projects for implementing Gender Mainstreaming concepts in public administration.

In the work area "Gender-reflected Educational Work" Dissens e.V. carries out political adult and youth training work, and organises further education events as well as providing practical advice for social establishments and projects. In the field of youth work, Dissens e.V. focuses on educational work with boys and male youngsters in the form of open work, assisted accommodation, social group work and international youth exchanges.

Together with its subsidiary company genderWerk Dissens e.V. designs the processes of Gender Mainstreaming more exactly and extensively and offers Gender Training, Gender Consulting, Conflict resolution and support for companies and public organisations during the processes of implementation of Gender Mainstreaming.
